Welcome / About Us
Cancer. Just to hear the word can bring immense feelings of fear, hopelessness, isolation and loss of control. The Wellness Community of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky invites you to take this opportunity to fight cancer . . . find hope . . .embrace life . . .
For a person with cancer, hope is a priceless commodity. Although it can be elusive, hope is fundamental to the fight for recovery. And increasingly, research is providing what we have always known in our hearts ... hope can be healing, helping people with cancer to live better and longer.
At The Wellness Community of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, hope can be found in abundance. Part of a national network of 21 agencies, plus 4 in development and 2 international locations. The Wellness Community in our area offers people with cancer and their loved ones, free of charge, the support and resources they need to maintain a high quality of life and to cope with this life-threatening condition. Programs include a variety of weekly support groups, stress management advice, children's programs, classes in tai chi, yoga and nutrition. Support, stress management and wide-ranging education have proven to be an unbeatable combination.
Above all, The Wellness Community is a community of people who can support one another as they share the same fears, the ordeal of treatments, the grief and the realization that life is precious and must not be wasted, even for one day.
The Wellness Community of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky was co-founded in 1990 by Lynn Stern and Sherry Weathers. Through the determined efforts of a dedicated staff, Professional Advisory Board, and Board of Trustees, their vision endures. Today, the agency averages over 1000 visits per month.
In March 2001, The Wellness Community of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky opened the doors of The Lynn Stern Center, a state of art facility centrally located in the Blue Ash suburb of Cincinnati. The 10,000 square foot Lynn Stern Center allows The Wellness Community to expand our services to more people in a home-like setting.
Most of us have been affected by cancer, if not personally, then through the pain or loss of someone we care about. We know how support and stress management ... and hope ... can be for maintaining a high quality of life and in many cases for surviving this devastating disease. The Wellness Community has addressed these needs for cancer patients in Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and surrounding areas for the past 16 years and will continue to do so in order that all cancer patients can gain the support that they need during their fight for recovery from cancer.
