Dear Friends of The Wellness Community,

Six years ago, I learned I had stage three breast cancer and could not have surgery. I had done all the right things throughout the years and there had never been a sign of cancer. I discovered dimpling in the breast and the physicians confirmed it was cancer although it did not show on the mammograms.

Life changes! I began the chemo treatments, radiation therapy, daily dose of neupogen, blood transfusions - - - all the stuff necessary to be healed. I had prayers, love and support from family and friends. But, I needed something else. I needed to talk with people who spoke my new language. I began attending programming at The Wellness Community (TWC). I found new friends, stress reduction programs and education forums that helped me understand “cancer.” Entering this “community” gave me serenity and energy. I was no longer just relying on my physician’s skills but was willing myself to get well and had support from others who understood. It was all free of charge to participants!

My experience with The Wellness Community was first as a cancer patient needing support, counseling and education. Secondly, I became a volunteer. I could not wait to contribute to this organization. Entering the facility always brings me a sense of calmness and a boost of energy.

When The Wellness Community invited me to join their Annual Fund Campaign, I was delighted. It provided me with an opportunity to say “Thank You” for the help I received and for all the assistance they provide people affected by cancer. Through support groups, lectures, stress management and fitness classes and other programs, they really help families who are affected by cancer– and all of the services are free of charge to participants. Please join me in saying “Thank You” by making this year’s annual fund their largest.

The Wellness Community gets support from grants, fundraising events and generous contributions from people like us. TWC is helping cancer patients and their loved ones manage the emotional stress of cancer. Join me in making a generous contribution to The Wellness Community! Their services have to continue!!

Sincerely,
