Mind/Body Programs
Manage stress and enhance your well-being by participating in programs that offer guidance in relaxation techniques or lead you in gentle exercise. See Program Calendar page for specific dates and times.
Yoga
Practice gentle Hatha Yoga, giving your body the ability to release stress and tension. During this one hour class you will rejuvenate, revitalize and relax. Learn body awareness and work with breathing.
Adaptive Yoga - A gentle yoga done seated in a chair.
Beginner - Learn the yoga basics in a gentle class.
Intermediate - Postures practiced in this class will be a
little more vigorous and challenging to the body
while providing the ability to relieve stress and
restore balance.
T'ai Chi
Balance the vital force of the body knows as "chi" by participating in T'ai Chi Chih. "Joy Thru Movement" can be performed by anyone of any ability or age. Some of the reported benefits include stress reduction and greater energy.
NIA - Opening Heart to Joy Through Movement
NIA is a blending of dance, martial arts and healing practices like Yoga and Tai'Chi - created to bring health to the body through movement.
Jin Shin Jytsu
Discover the ancient Japanese art that harmonizes and balances your energy using some of the same priciples as acupressure and acupuncture without the use of needles or deep pressure. You can do this yourself or it can be done by a practifioner by gengly placing fingers on specific body points.
Relaxation/Visualization:
Regular guided sessions during which participants learn how to practice important self-help procedures designed to make them feel more relaxed and comfortable. These could include yoga, tai chi, meditation techniques, and other helpful methods.
Journaling
Learn the ancient art of journaling. Find inner peace and companionship as you travel through your cancer journey on the path toward recovery.
Relaxation through stitching - "Knit, Crochet & Quilting Too"
Learn to knit/crochet/quilt or bring your own project and enjoy the peace and companionship of fellow cancer survivors.
