Getting the Support You Need as a Cancer Patient

Discussion will includehow to assess your needs as a cancer patient, as well as how to communicate those needs to family and friends. Denise Badaruddin, Ph.D., an expert in understanding and addressing the emotional aspects of a cancer diagnosis will present the program.

Frankly Speaking About Colorectal Cancer Workshop
6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
This program, presented by Heinz-Josef Lenz, M.D., provides support, education and hope to people affected by colorectal cancer and their loved ones. In the workshop and companion booklet, participants will learn about the most current colorectal treatments, symptom and side-effect management strategies, the social and emotional challenges of the diagnosis and survivorship issues specific to people with colorectal cancer. The purpose of this program is to provide the tools and confidence patients need to be able to discuss colorectal cancer with their healthcare providers as well as friends and family so they can get the care they need and deserve.

Cancer Survivorship Conference

Location: Ball Auditorium, John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek Campus, 1601 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, CA
Learn how cancer survivorship is changing including the unique challenges faced by survivors and their loved ones as co-survivors. This conference will also provide tools to help you regain as much control as possible as you face forward on the journey with and beyond cancer. Speakers include Dr. Julia Rowland, Director, Office of Cancer Survivorship National Cancer Institute, Dr. Mitch Golant, The Wellness Community Senior VP for Research and Development, Tinrin Chew, RD, Oncology Dietician, and Dr. Lesley Martin, Medical Oncologist.
