Financial Management During Illness

Kim Morrissey, Financial Advisor with Wachovia Securities will discuss
debt consolidation, budgeting, life insurance, retirement
accounts, and investments. She will also discuss how to maximize
the value of your assets, pitfalls, possible costs and tax consequences
of using different resources during illness. This program is
offered in partnership with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Holiday Self Care
Thursday, December 4th, 6:30-8:00 pm
‘Tis the season for stress as well as festivities for many during the
upcoming holidays. This workshop will review healthy holiday coping
strategies and ideas for self-nurturing. Leave this program with
a clearer peace of mind when facing the challenges of the holiday
season. Presented by TWC-GLV facilitators Mary Timko, LSW and
Jen Sinclair, LPC.
Holiday Cookie Swap
Friday, December 5th, 6:00-8:30 pm
Staff, participants, and family members are invited to join together
for a holiday gathering. Bring a batch of your favorite cookies to
share with others. (Don’t forget the recipe so that your favorite can
become ours). Everyone will go home with a variety of goodies! We’ll provide the refreshments.
Enjoying Nature’s Gifts

To ease tension of the holiday season, prepare an aromatherapy
all-natural relaxing spray mist. Join us over a cup of herbal tea and
cookies.
Healthy Cooking After Treatment

Cooking for the Holidays: Bring a favorite holiday recipe to the
December program. We will revise it, making it more healthful, yet
delicious, and satisfying. We will also creatively work with color, flavors,
and texture to produce a sensational holiday feast. This workshop
presented by Janice Kay of Janice Kay’s Green Cuisine.

Women’s Spa Day
Friday, December 19th, 10:00 am-2:00 pm
A day of pampering may be just what’s needed to bring some
warmth into our hectic schedules. Survivors are invited to bring
their daughters, sisters, mothers or friends to join us for peppermint
foot soaks, hand massages, and facials. Spa services are donated
by Chickadees in Bethlehem. This event will be held at the Vollrath
House. Please RSVP to Jen Sinclair at TWC, as consent forms must
be completed prior to the event. Space is limited to 15 attendees,
so please register early.

inexpensive item for a “white elephant” give-away to be used as
game prizes. This will be a fun way to heat up the winter chill with
some friendly competition.
Injury Prevention for Cancer Survivors
Thursday, January 22nd, 6:30-8:00 pm
Presenters Eileen Coil, OTR/L and Melissa Comstock, OTR/L,
Occupational Therapist from Lehigh Valley Health Network
Muhlenberg, will discuss ways for cancer survivors to prevent
injuries in their homes and surroundings. Learn how to correctly lift
objects, care for your body’s muscles and bones, and avoid common
safety pitfalls.
Notary Service Open House
Wednesday, January 28th, 2009 6:30-8:00 pm
Patricia Nemetch, CSA from APRN, Caring Solutions for Seniors
and Families, has graciously offered her notary services free of
charge for cancer survivors and their caregivers. Stop in with the
following prepared documents to be notarized: Living Wills, Five
Wishes, handicapped applications already executed by a physician
and are in need of notary for your signature only, and
ownership/beneficiary changes to life insurance policies (please
bring any supporting information or instructions from the insurance
company). Please refrain from bringing any other types of documents
outside of the ones previously listed. Also, any pre-signed
documents by you or another individual will not be notarized.
Attendees must bring photo ID and prepared documents to utilize
this notary service.
