Patients

Welcome to Cancer Support! Perhaps you have just been diagnosed with cancer or your treatment is well-underway. Or, maybe your treatment has just ended and you are wondering, "What now?"

No matter who you are, no matter where you live,
no matter what kind of cancer you have or the stage of the disease,
The Cancer Support Community can help.

The Cancer Support Community (CSC) believes that participation in our programs can be a meaningful part of your physical, and emotional recovery from cancer, regardless of the stage or extent of your illness, or whether you are a survivor or a caregiver. As the number of cancer survivors in the United States surpasses 12 million people, the demand for support and education that address survivorsÕ needs throughout the entire continuum of care is increasing. The Cancer Support Community is at the forefront of providing the highest quality professional services for people affected by cancer. Our experience as a leader in the field of cancer support makes us an ideal partner throughout your journey as you seek to enhance your quality of life and the possibility of your recovery.

Sometimes, surrounded by loving and caring people, you can still feel alone with cancer. At the Cancer Support Community (CSC) either through our in-person centers or online, there is a vibrant network of people committed to supporting one another and sharing what they have learned from their experience. The aim of our organization is to create a warm welcoming environment with easy access to information and activities that can help people connect with each other. When you have cancer, it can make a difference to be with others who understand.

All programs at the Cancer Support Community are provided at NO COST to the participant.

We are supported solely by generous contributions from individuals, small businesses, corporations, foundations and bequests. Some Wellness Communities receive modest government grants from state and local agencies. We know that cancer can take its toll emotionally and financially, so our professional services are provided at no cost so you can get the information and support you need for yourself and your loved ones.

At the Cancer Support Community, you can choose to participate in a variety of programs designed to help you learn more about cancer and its treatment. You can also connect with and learn from others as you face cancer together. We are a Community of people united in creating a better quality of life with, through, and beyond cancer.

    • Take a Stress Management Class

Reducing the stress of dealing with cancer is one of the most important things you can do to improve the quality of your life. Consider participating in a regular yoga class or Tai Chi. If there is a Wellness Community near you, there are frequent programs free of charge on meditation, relaxation and guided imagery that can help you learn to quiet your fear or anxiety and regain a sense of control. If you are participating online, you can view a relaxation exercise that you can do in the comfort of your own home.

    • Visit the library and resource center.

Each local Community has an area devoted to books, magazines, booklets and brochures from both local and national sources to help you better understand cancer and its treatment or to find resources that can help you better cope with the disease. Many Wellness Communities have high-speed Internet access and can help you search for cancer-related information online. Feel free to check out a comprehensive list of books and publications available online.

Read a book about the Cancer Support Community.
