Volunteer Opportunities

Facility Greeter

Facility Greeters help provide a friendly smile and a warm welcome to people with cancer and their loved ones as they enter The Wellness Community. Greeters give tours of the facility to those coming for the first time and also help staff manage projects as needed.

Health Fair Volunteer

Throughout the year, The Wellness Community sets up information booths at various health fairs and community educational events. Volunteers set up the booth, pass out literature, and talk about services. These volunteers are placed on a list and called when needed.

Ambassadors (Outreach Volunteer)

Six times a year we publish and distribute our calendar of programs so that people affected by cancer and the medical community are updated on our activities. Bi-monthly Ambassadors visit medical offices, churches, etc. to restock marketing materials such as brochures and calendars. They check the quantity provided as well as discard any outdated materials to assure timely information of TWC services. In addition, Ambassadors focus on developing and maintaining relationships with professionals for increase awareness of, and referrals to TWC. Individuals must be able to articulate and champion the mission of TWC, answer questions and enjoy getting out in the community and meeting people. Training provided.

St. Joseph Mercy Cancer Care Center Volunteer Navigator

This program is a partnership with St. Joseph Mercy Cancer Care Center in Ann Arbor. Volunteers will spend time in the cancer center talking with patients and families spreading the word about services offered by TWC and other support available through the health system. Volunteers will be trained and will be able to answer questions and provide tours of the cancer center.

Special Events Volunteer

The Wellness Community hosts a number of special events and programs throughout the year. These may be fundraising events or programs for our participants. Special events are generally in the evening or on the weekends. Opportunities range from planning the event, to helping with set up, depending on your interest. These volunteers are placed on a list and called when needed.

Special Skills Volunteer

Volunteers often have a wealth of talents. Some examples of gifting expertise include but are not limited to: computer expertise, food preparation, and speaking opportunities.
